And one more thing... You said you want to use your system as a biggy filter and then asked if it makes any sense. What comes to mind first are William Burroughs and Charles Bukowski. A friend of mine has also made a synth (rather noise generator) with 6 knobs or so and some switches. I guess if I knew some elementary physics/schematics, I'd give it a try and make one by myself.
