Re: Rap Music

Does any of you know who this is? https://www.dropbox.com/s/684j04ezu5gucqo/whatsthis.mp3?dl=0 I've tried searching for any part of the lyrics. The mix is from around '10, I think, and the style sounds old, but at the same time the beat sounds digitally cut. And 3/4 hiphop in general – share me some...

Re: VST instruments and hosts

To clarify – you want to record the audio output of your VST host into Audacity, in real time? As far as I know, that's the only way to record vst instruments with Audacity, so I'm assuming that's what you want. But, you're saying that you can't get your instruments to play? I'd need some more info ...

Re: fade-outs

I agree that it can be useful in pop music – but this electroacoustic composition teacher I had was so adamant that it was the worst offence, that every time I hear a fade-out, some part of me thinks they couldn't find a real way to end. Still, interesting question. I can think of two: Shakti's Lotu...

Maja S.K. Ratkje – Crepuscular Hour
and
Danny Brown – Atrocity Exhibition

Crepuscular Hour is one of the most intense listening experiences I've ever had. Pupils dilated, sweaty palms, teary eyes, strong feelings of shame regarding my own attempts at music. And I've not even heard it in surround yet.

Recently http://www.passionweiss.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/danny-brown-atrocity-exhibition.jpg After being disappointed by Old, I thought Danny Brown would continue in that direction and I'd just have XXX to bring back from time to time. Atrocity Exhibition is so scarily like what I wished for ...

I've been listening to http://www.tinymixtapes.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/Article_Width/1603/zelooperz-bothic.jpg ZelooperZ - Bothic Detroit trap with manic voice. It's a good mix of weird deliveries and hyperactive doubletime. http://images.complex.com/complex/image/upload/t_article_image/f...

It's very catchy,
lots of Johns featured heavily in the first part, so if your name is John then you're in for a wild ride.

Re: bandcamp threads

I have a new single out on bandcamp: https://markge47.bandcamp.com/album/project-moon Neat! I really liked it, such a satisfying loop. Obviously named after me, this project is. Back when I was a teenager on myspace, some weird americans gave me lots of encouragement. They made super funky psychede...

Re: Rap Music

Anyone have some new recommendations? some quick ones I've been listening to lately - Future's new one Evol is ok, but the slightly less new Purple Reign is much better. Young Thug's I'm Up, MigoThuggin and Slime Season 3 I've listened to, but not enough to make a proper recommendation on either. H...

Metal album of the year: Sammath - Godless Arrogance http://www.black-legion-shop.de/mailorder/bilder/produkte/gross/SAMMATH-Godless-Arrogance-Digi-CD.jpg Probably the most aggressive, relevant and relentless BM-album of this century. I guess the fact that it's a bit overlooked by the blogs is - as...

http://images.livemixtapes.com/artists/nodj/pouya-south_side_slugs/cover.jpg?1427262779 Pouya - South Side Slugs Worth a listen, some good production, and it does sound different with the mix of trap and that style of pop I can't figure out what is called. Re: sound cards

You're welcome! Yes, you got the combo idea right. My only worry would be that the amp would be a little on the not neutral side. I wanted to give you some suggestions for a studio oriented alternative, but I couldn't find any. Not with headphone amp and option for preamp out to powered monitors, at...

Re: sound cards

It doesn't sound like you would need a lot of processing power for what you're doing, unless you're looking to get a whole suite of high end mastering plugins with your new setup. A few standard things like compressors and eqs are fine with any modern complooter. What you could do is put a little ex...

Re: I Hate Demos / Today's Improv/Composition

As a way to start your day or practice before work I couldn't encourage it more, but what I said, however harsh, is still valid despite your reply, and I said it harshly because I found it arrogant. First off, your point about it being technologically interesting would only be valid if the result of...

Session snatched this morning. https://soundcloud.com/bonehole/giuoco-piano This is 22 minutes of mono, fumbling around for an interesting sound, and I don't understand why you're sharing this. Maybe I'm missing something 'Anal Bukkake' hears and likes, but there's barely twenty seconds of usable m...

Re: Unaltered acoustic instruments + electronic experiments?

For strings in particular you could go through Kronos Quartet's backlog and single out performances of works by electroacoustic composers you like. Sometimes it's helpful to have an entry point when you're discovering, even if you don't like Kronos that much. I immediately thought of David Behrman's...
