Thanks. Toyoda is a guilty pleasure of mine and I'm waiting to see this. Will check out Himizu too. I was intrigued by this and Lao Tsu Ben post above and decided to check Toshiaki Toyoda. I've seen Blue Spring a few months ago and wasn't really impressed but yesterday I saw Hanging Garden and it's...

P. Wretch wrote:Skolimowski also features in Cronenberg's Eastern Promises, of course - one of the better things about that film.

so true

re: Skolimowski. Deep End is really good, The Shout is an interesting one (mainly because of the subject). Four Nights with Anna and Essential Killing are for sure worth watching but try if you can get a hold on of his early movies: Walkover , Identification Marks: None , Barrier and Hands Up! (fini...

Don't know for the other dates, but this one seems to be a duo with Thomas Ankersmit.

from what I know they don't play in a duo.

Recently watched: Zemestan (It's Winter) dir. Rafi Pitts http://www.close-upfilm.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/zemestan.jpg Pretty decent. I'm a big fan of Iranian cinema now, I like the usual bitterness in Iranian films. The cinematography is usually pretty top notch and awesome as well. Was pret...

Kiarostami for sure, but I would also strongly recommend Jafar Panahi. I'd seen three his movies: "The White Balloon", "The Mirror", "The Circle" and all are good. But "The Circle" should be most interesting for you as it is a strong commentary about social situation in the country. As for Ghobadi, ...

so if it's ok to post not-OOP stuff, here is a scan of booklet from Ferrari's "L’œuvre électronique" (original is in color, but this is in grayscale and only English part)

maybe someone will be interested: i'm gonna present excerpts from all of six recents cds in a radio show which i co-present called Audiosfera (http://audiosfera.blox.pl). it is in polish so our comments about records won't be of much use for most of you, but i promise there will be more music than t...

from the description ("resonating dubplate | field recordings | room harmonics") i would guess it could be Robert Curgenven.

Phil & Richard (and anyone else who was there), what was your feeling about listening to this music with such large audiences? People have already mentioned a couple of downsides (people walking out, people snoring, whiney kids) & I imagine that in many ways I'd rather listen to it as part of a sma...

I'm with you on the Julius performance d.at. I found his sounds quite interesting for a few moments but lost all interest when he did nothing with them. I suspect his work is better suited to an installation type situation but I may be doing him an injustice on the strength of one performance. Very...

I found this article published in "Perspectives of New Music" (vol. 21, no. 1/2 - 1982/3), maybe it will be interesting for some people. There is interview by Christopher Hobbs and Barney Childs with Rowe and Prevost about AMM (the theme of this article is improvisation, there are also interviews wi...

not many thoughts but from what i have seen "The Son" ("Le fils") is the strongest, "Rosetta" and "The Child" ("L'Enfant") are also worth watching.
