I haven't read that chapter, but someone once mentioned it to me now I remember it. Thanks.

Re: Disco

That song is indeed absolutely incredible. Somehow it seems unexpected to me when disco songs explicitly reference being gay – which this does, as does Carl Bean's "Born This Way" – I guess it was pretty unusual back in the day. But in both these cases, they make for some of the strongest songs in d...

O/T, but has anyone read the Prevost book yet? Does it exist? Would be interested to read it.

Re: LOUTALLICA, the most hated record ever?

Rock critics falling over themselves to deliver a kicking is most unedifying. it's basically a metalband jamming through typical riffs etc, with Lou Reed shouting absurd poetry over it. What's there not to love?? Indeed. This review makes the amusing error of trying to give it a grand kicking and in...

I didn't know anyone else in England had even heard of Eggs. And that was a great song
I remember that song so well. It's freakin' hilarious. Is any of their other stuff good?

Re: When Did "Post-Punk" Become a Genre Designation?

Really interesting thread. I can remember post-punk being discussed in the early 90s, although it was used to represent a set of tendencies/ideas/affinities... a nexus of music, rather than a scene (there were too few of them for that, weren't there?) and certainly not a genre with any kind of music...

That new Aaron Dilloway on Hundebiss is terrific – Lip Syncing to Verme it's called. Compact, concise, punchy, sharp.

I don't mind that Keith Rowe/Bottrop Boy cover. That's the same typeface they've used before, and I dig the consistency.

Rolf Julius RIP

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere – Steve Roden has blogged to say Julius has passed away.

Re: Eric Lunde

He's got some new stuff out – LRAD: Compositions For The Long Range Acoustic Device (a title which guarantees it's worth picking up) and Localized Noise Induced Transitions. They're great. Quite distorted but with a lot of space and a sense of something vaguely threatening going on. More here: http:...

I Hate Bach Organ Works

I was listening to this programme as part of BBC Radio 3's Building A Library series http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vdk4p ... a discussion of various recordings of Bach's organ works in some depth. Despite the standard posh British tone of the programme, this was seriously interesting stuff: the...

The two recent Heldon things reissued on Wah Wah are surprisingly great. Allez Teia something and Electronique Guerilla. I've never felt his later stuff much.

Nate Young's solo work almost all seems outstanding to me. All the Demons stuff, plus the Regression album. All of it is solid gold.
