I hate motorik
Howdy y'all! I'm in the market for some good motorik, but as luck would have it, the internet-at-large doesn't have much to offer in terms of "essential albums/artists/songs" lists. I did chance upon a good Quietus article on the subject, but I'm eager to hear more. I'm particularly curious to hear ...

Re: Akira Kurosawa
I can only speak on Yojimbo: it's fantastic. It's comical and incisive, and it's got a bangin' score. Plus, Mifune is hard as nails. I would suggest watching it soon after (or soon before) A Fistful of Dollars. It's cool seeing how Sergio Leone adapted it to the lawless West (although Yojimbo was it...

Re: Akira
I love Akira, both the comic series and the movie. My understanding is that the comic series started first, but the movie was completed and released before the comic series ended. Given that the Akira saga in comic form is gargantuan, it makes sense that there's not an exact one-to-one correspondenc...

Re: what.cd and torrents
I actually do not have a what.cd account, but I do have one for Waffles (a very good private tracker for music and apps). I also happen to be in the market for a Karagarga invite!
PM me if you would interested in a trade.

Movie Toerrent Site?
Hi all,
Might anyone have a recommendation for a good, private movie torrenting site? I'm currently in the market for spaghetti westerns, blaxploitation, and Shaw Brothers-caliber martial arts flics--you know, all that awesome campy stuff.
Many, many thanks in advance!

Re: FLAMENCO
Early Cante Flamenco is a very nice collection of 1930s recordings, and it's a convenient introduction to a number of vocalists that you can see listed here: http://www.arhoolie.com/titles/326.shtml Agreed. I also strongly suggest reading the book "In Search of Duende" by Federico Garcia Lorca. Its...

Re: Electronic Circuits: building, experimenting..
I gutted a bad distortion pedal I have and turned it into a kill switch pedal and monitor out for my oscillator, so I can hear what note I've got going before I send it to the mixer/effects. It's basically got a 1/8in headphone jack wired directly to the input so I can listen to the clean signal, f...

Re: Difference between a function generator and test oscillator?
Due to their different applications, there are several main differences between the features of an audio test oscillator and a function generator. Audio test oscillators are generally used for testing room acoustics and frequency responses (although oscillators were initially used for communication ...

Re: Books about the technical side of sound/engineering/etc.
I recommend "Home Recording Made Easy: professional recordings on a demo budget" (http://www.amazon.com/Home-Recording-Made-Easy-Professional/dp/1860743501). It's kind of like the recording for dummies but it's rather thorough and I found it useful when I first got into home recording. There is als...
