Re: Eliane Radigue

I've gotten a couple of emails concerning Naldjorlak from people who frequent this forum - so I thought I'd post an update. Last spring Bowerbird received a grant to present the American première of the complete Naldjorlak cycle here in Philadelphia - which we planned to have in March 2010. While we...

Re: Elliott Sharp is writing reviews for Tiny Mixtapes

I can confirm that there is an Elliott Sharp that lives in Philadelphia or close by - who is not *the* Elliott Sharp - He's purchased a ticket for Bowerbird concert and I checked him off the willcall list when he showed up.

This was the piece The Wire published back in October 2005 (#260) BTW, Naldjorlak 2 was writen for Carol Robinson and Bruno Martinez. I know the music of Carol Robinson through her Mode releases of Feldman, Scelsi, Berio and Nono. She is really great! But who is Bruno Martinez? Bruno Martinez is th...

Re: Columbia Computer Music Center

I don't know if you're just looking to take classes or get a degree in music - but it should be noted that the music department does not offer an undergraduate degree. There's some interesting things happening there technology wise - George Lewis has done some interesting work with interactivity - b...

Re: weyes blood, nmperign, lambkin lescalleet - philadelphia 4/5

Oh - and the "somebody standing behind me continually snickered every 5 to 10 seconds" - well, that was me - and maybe Jesse Kudler too. pretty sure Jesse was sitting in the second row during this set, unless he got up when it was louder. Jesse was standing in the back at that point- certainly smir...

I don't agree with that at all.

And the rest your post is absolutely, astoundingly obnoxious.

Re: weyes blood, nmperign, lambkin lescalleet - philadelphia 4/5

Richard - I think the "I wanted to punch someone" vibe was a bit harsh. Especially if by chance that person were to read your post here. I think their response was totally legitimate considering the situation - especially if this was someone's first experience with Graham and Jason. I also know that...

Re: Eliane Radigue

Happy to report that today Bowerbird got funding for the American premiere of the complete Naldjorlak cycle (all three movements). Ms. Radigue will likely be attending and we will be presenting a couple of her electronic pieces as well. The bad news - you'll have to wait till March 2010. Stay tuned...

Re: Graham Lambkin

It was great to see so many IHMers at the concert here in Philadelphia. Thanks to everyone that came out.

I'm curious to hear what people thought of the concert. I had a great time - but when I'm running a concert it's hard to get a sense of what the audience is hearing.

as a mater of analogy - feldman, in particular, and the new york school composers (and performers and artists) more generally, would be fantastic examples of how a community can directly influence an artist's development

there's probably a great deal of semantic wiggle room on how we're defining community, but i'd suggest the possibility that AMM was a community - or at least served some of the same supporting roles we're talking about here...

Re: individual music development within communities

there are about 20 people tops. that's way low - but you don't come that often so maybe you're not getting the whole picture. 20s is a bad turnout. most, especially since fall 08 have been between 40 and 50. But it goes way higher pretty often - there were more like 80 - 100 a couple of times in th...
