Re: kevin drumm
I Have a Computer and Blast of Silence showed up tonight, won't have a chance to listen until tomorrow, but I'm sure someone will chime in soon.

Relating to Jason Crumer, I heard some rumors about him, not his music. Anyone have any insight? Rumors is the wrong word. He is publicly and directly accused of sexual assault by the person assaulted, who also says she saw him at a different time sexually assault a passed out drunk woman. He then ...

Re: Packaging: the Decline of the Spine - w/poll
Personally, I view the card stock slipcases as only acceptable when doing a budget series, like Pure or Troniks/PacRec, where they are 3 for $20 and no more than $8ppd (if a USA label) individually. jewel case, digipack, thick cardstock mini-"gatefold lp" jacket or dual plover style are all fine wit...

Re: help with cracking reason for mac os
To answer that most effectively I need to know 1) What precisely about Reason are you interested in? 2) what platform you are using? You're on a mac, right? Have you tried GarageBand? it comes free with your mac and there's a fair number of free audio unit instruments out there that work with it, li...

Re: Takeshi Miike
I went to the Japan Society today for their "From Gore to Westerns: An Incisive Afternoon with Director Takashi Miike" It was a lot of fun, Miike is very charming and I was surprised by the insightful questions from the audience, though much of the nuance of these questions was lost in the translati...

Re: max for live
As I use Max 5 and Ableton Live as the "brain" & primary sound source of my live performance set up, this is an absolute dream come true for me. Being able to integrate my patches directly into Live and have Live handle all of the automation and preset management will make certain things so much eas...

Re: Takeshi Miike
Yep, I saw pretty much all all his stuff. I think it's a bit like Dead or Alive : take away the "shocking" bits, and you're left with a looonnnggg nothingness. I felt this way about Dead Or Alive the first time I saw it, but then I ended up seeing it theatrically twice and on dvd again, and I remem...

Re: Shawn Greenlee / A.Saunders tour Nov 13-16 (ny, pa, md, nj)
Tour was a great success, I played the best set of my life in Baltimore.
Thanks to all helped out, booked us, played with us, lent us a couch to sleep on and/or came out to see us.

Re: Max/msp improvising software
max/msp is awesome and the new max/msp 5 is even more so. I wrestled with max four or five times before it finally clicked but now that it has I've used it an enormous amount. My recommendation is to run through the first 5 to 8 Max tutorials, then jump right to the MSP tutorials that cover Buffer~ ...

Re: Critics
Both of The Rita's PacRec cds are excellent. Especially sublime, for the harsh noise enthusiast at least, is the moment roughly 10 minutes into the first track on Bodies Bear Traces of Carnal Violence when the wall is split by the sounds of screaming sampled from Italian giallo film. A similar contr...

also, Brutal Truth are a weirdly divisive band, personally I'm only really into Need to Control, but wish a more talented drummer played on it. Total Fucking Destruction is one of the worst live bands I've ever seen; it's been 8 years or so so who knows what they are like now, but Rich simply never ...

Re: GRINDcore
I just drove GridLink around on tour in August; 6 days in a row, opening for them in Boston and Providence (short harsh noise sets). I just got the This Comp Kills Fascists vol 1, on Relapse, which has a bunch of new school power violence / grindcore bands, some of whom really impressed me on first ...
