Re: Miscellaneous Sports Rants
Simmons: "On the last game of the '84 season, needing a win against Washington to make the playoffs, O'Donoghue missed the game-winning field goal as time expired." This would've clinched the NFC East and sent us to the playoffs. Every Thanksgiving my uncle plays the VHS of this game in its entirety.

Cecil Taylor - Conversations with Tony Oxley (Jazzwerkstatt) This is magnificent and I say this as a completist. Corrupts that silly European v. American drummer w/CT argument in approach while very different from Leaf Palm Hand (how shitty those FMPs sound notwithstanding). Thanks Alex. Very late ...

Re: Recently Watched Films 2019
I think Knight wrote it as a feature only, doubtless the context begs to be done on stage. As Dan said if I say anything it's ruined.

I have not listened to that much more recent Keith Rowe - at least since the solo stuff from 2011. To my ears the most exciting stuff from Rowe was recorded druing the previous decade. A View from the Window, Between (probably my all-time favorite), and the live short duet with Burkhart Beins are a...

Re: Recent purchases redux
New Bill Callahan 2LP, not the over-produced turd that preceded it, on the lo-fi acoustic country end, should've been 1LP. I swear I don't know how he came up with Apocalypse which was my most listened to record of 2011. Saw him live even at Duke a couple years ago and it was BRUTAL. C+/B-. He talks...

North and The Red Stream: Red Trio & Mattis Stahl Rodrigo Pinheiro on piano, Hernani Faustino on bass, Gabriel Ferrandinin on drums with the guest on vibraphone Three 20 minute-ish improvised pieces. Maybe my favorite from all of the newer releases. Think of a post-modern version on "Oblique" witho...

Picked up a couple more Lescalleet TIWIDs, have to say these are fairly reliable and inventive even if the arc of each one is often the same e.g., screwed encores. Stock music. Like Lifetime movies.

Re: NFL Regular Season 2018-2019
really as intense an offensive based NFL game as you will ever see, but the defense made a lot of plays and made the offenses make a lot of tough plays (so many sick catches!). Aaron Donald and Pat Mahomes both at the top of their game, really the most enjoyable game I've seen in a long time (playo...

Re: Recently Watched Films 2018
Sidney Lumet - Q & A (1990) This flick is criminally slept on: Q & A (Sidney Lumet, 1990) Impressively dialogue driven, stagy thriller. Violence is spare in light of context and personæ; maybe Nolte's best turn (I don't throw that out blithely), Hutton commands most screen time, Assante steals his f...
