bridge on the river kwai. great movie overall. a tad long but I don't really know what I would cut out. great buildup to the finale, which I thought was edited pretty damn well also, I saw in the credits they filmed on location... I can't even imagine how arduous that must have been, given some of t...

close encounters of the 3rd kind pretty good though the whole thing could havw been reduced to the final scene without losing much in terms of story. still, the alien/ufo/paranormal geek in me appreciated the buildup. it felt kind of like a mood piece more than anything. also, special fx were quite ...

http://www.murderoutthere.com/IMAGES/DVD-Sunsetboulevard.jpg great all around. solid storytelling. i loved the scenes w/ cecil b demille. esp. the scene where hog-eye puts the spotlight on norma while demille is talking to the dude on the phone. the way the story built to when the girl visits the h...

http://www.cooldesktopwallpaper.ca/movies/wp-content/uploads/precious-movie-poster.jpg i dunno. i didnt actually know anything about it going in, but saw an interview w/ the lead actress on conan & had heard rave reviews from various people, so figured id check it out anyway i thought the performan...

After about ten minutes you get used to them, and life goes on as it did before. Once you've seen one dragon fly into your nose, you've seen 'em all. Before the movie there were trailers for Shrek 4 and Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland , both due out next year and both in 3D, backed by Disney $$, s...

early estimates i heard the movie was $300mil but ive heard 1/2 billion being thrown around which is mind boggling

hadn't seen chungking express in a while, but really fucking good. but I feel like I think that everytime I watch it and just kind of forget til I watch it again. the scenes where the girl is in tony leungs apt kills me everytime. I've got a huge crush on her character. it was also interesting watch...

streetcar named desire and chungking express. never seen the former before. initial reaction is that its a tad overrated. @ first vivian leighs acting grated on me but I was won over in the end. brando was a force to be reckoned w/ for sure. the acting and mannerisms as a whole felt a bit exaggerate...

i forget if i posted in here, but the first one that pops to mind is in the mood for love

from the otherwise largely worthless "year in review" articles in today's paper: Cameron’s “Dances With Blue People’’ is politically deranged and as tin-eared as all his movies. he then goes on to praise it as a technology wonder that everyone and his brother should go see. it annoys me so much tha...

friend of mine sugested avatar be retitled 'dances with aliens'. haven't seen it, though. yeah someone had mentioned this to me as well. i had forgotten the plot of dances w/ wolves but after watching avatar, the comparison seems pretty apt someone also threw out a fern gully comparison, but i dont...

just saw district 9 & avatar in 3-d imax didnt know much about either one before watching (yes, i live under a rock) d9 was pretty good. i feel like the director did a pretty good job w/ the aliens & made them as relatable to as possible, probably. also good job keeping everything very taut & creati...

thanks for the recc's guys kinda wish you'd write something about what you're looking for sonically rather than just refer to a band. hm. i guess a lot of the adjectives have already been used in this thread. but really drawn out, sustained guitar tones; oceans of guitar even. electronics/manipulati...
